Not a GMT, but that's okay.

Posted by Jorge Ortiz on Dec 20th 2019

So, I became aware of Long Island Watch through YouTube, and discovered Orient as a brand in the process. I looked at the site for watches on sale and fell in love with the defender. The description indicated that the 24 sub dial was a GMT dial (unless there are multiple definitions for GMT, then I'll chalk up to my own ignorance on the matter) and I thought it was a home run. A dual time watch with in house mechanical movement for $150? SOLD! Unfortunately it is not a dual time zone function, but rather an AM/PM indicator. I was a little bummed at first, but quickly grew to appreciate that indicator when it came time to set the date. What I got was a beautiful, if a little quirky, field watch (42 hour power reserve? Good luck reaching that without winding! But again, $150..). I am pleased with my purchase and will do business here again, just would appreciate more accurate descriptions of watches and their functions in the future :).

    Awesome Value Watch

Posted by Unknown on Dec 14th 2019

Just now unboxed and set time and date. I like the layout of the dial. The Orient logo compliments the the two sub-dials for a balanced and unique appearance. I also like the the 1/5 second tick marks on the chapter ring. The blue dial looks great. Depending on the light it can appear blue, grey or black. The bracelet is decent for only a few dollars extra. The case lays nicely on my wrist and has a good amount of heft with the bracelet. This is my first Orient watch. When you get a new toy you want to love it and I do. This is also my first purchase at LIW. Price, product, and shipping were all on target.

    Great watch for the price

Posted by Paul on Jun 28th 2019

The Orient Defender is a really nice watch. It feels and looks like it should command a higher price. It is very comfortable and attractive on the wrist. Sometimes I find the dial a little hard to read due to the sub-dials. The movement has very good power reserve, however this particular model gains about 20+ seconds per day - it's about minute fast after two days. This is my first automatic watch so that might be common. The service from Island Watch is great. Fast shipping and great customer attention.

    Great gift for graduation senior

Posted by Hunter Ekvall on Jun 3rd 2019

I bought this watch for my nephew for his HS graduation, and he loved it! He's had a number of watches, but I kept telling him about how much I loved my Orient watches. Finally went ahead and got him one. I think I might have created an Orient fan!

    Great everyday watch

Posted by Andy on Jan 30th 2019

My first Orient watch, and I love it! The Defender is my favorite everyday piece, and covers 90% of my watch needs - from casual to business professional. I like that the Defender is different and it's own unique style. I love the hands and the date window position. I've owned this piece for 3-4 months and I can easily say if I were limited to just one watch, I would choose the Defender. This one runs about +5 sec per day. The movement is non-hacking and non-hand winding, but that doesn't bother me. The mineral crystal is tough and I've had no scratch problems. My only minor complaint, the threading on the screw down crown is rough but not a showstopper at this price point. Incredible value with Orient, it's style, history, and in-house movements.

    A beautiful everyday time piece!

Love the blue dial version of this watch. It is a wonderful everyday watch, that still provides wonderful details with its date and 24hr subdials. Very pleased to have added this one to my collection.
