    Great Watch

This watch looks great! The watch face has excellent detail and shines. I am very happy with this purchase. I was also impressed by the service and pricing provided by Island Watch. Note: The date hand/indicator is very tiny on this watch.

    Sport watch with class

I am not a fan of cluttered dials and the Orient Star series, whether the Retrograde or Star Seeker, although beautiful in their own right, are too cluttered for my taste. This watch seems to have much of the same stylistic elements and seem to exhibit the right mix of dress-down and dress-up. The Conductor would look awesome with any color leather band. I like having the screw-down crown, sapphire top crystal, power reserve and exhibition back. The hour markers have brushed tops with sloping polished edges. I found the dial easy to read, the hands are luminous and there are very small luminous dots above each hour marker. The face is not matte white, but a brushed light silver with a noticeable symmetry to it. Classy. The power reserve and and date dial indicators are encircled in silver. Again, classy. It is a nice touch to have the date dial instead of the typical window. This is a great buy and this is great online retailer!

    Sporty but dressy

Posted by obe on May 12th 2014

This is basically an Orient Planet with a dressy look. Doesn't go that well with flip-flops or Armani, but anything else in between would do. The dial is beautyful, and the specs are great, almost on par with Orient Star. Retrograde has day dial and hand winding, but Conductor has screwed in crown, and is much cheaper. A tiny bit hard to read the time at certain angles, but I kinda' expected that given the dial color and finish; a trade-off for great looks. The hands are, I believe, from their quartz chronograph (Orient Captain). The bracelet is nice, but as usually with regular Orient watches, it doesn't have solid end links. Though I think it looks much better on leather (any leather colour will work). The hour markers are a bit flashy, and reduce legibility; would've been nice to have them brushed rather than polished. On sale this is definitely a steal. Great for a dressy daily beater that you can take swimming, snorkelling and surfing, as well as at a banquet.
