Description

Seiko Green Dial Automatic Alpinist Field Watch with 38mm Case, and Sapphire Crystal #SARB017

The Seiko SARB017 field watch is powered by the premium Seiko 6R15 caliber self-winding movement that can also be hand wound and hacked. It is the same caliber that powers many of the Seiko Prospex line of watches. The movement has a generous 50 hour power reserve. The case has a fine brushed finish and the green dial sports highly luminous goldtone hands and hour markers. A date display is shown at the 3 o'clock position. A scratch resistant sapphire crystal is used to protect the dial. The watch is water resistant to 200 meters. Note: The crown at 4:00 turns the inner (compass marked) bezel. Case is a mix of brushed and polished stainless steel.

Don't let the smaller case size fool you, this has so much wrist presence it speaks for itself. One of Seiko's best efforts and easily my favourite watch.

EXCELLENT PURCHASE AND SERVICE April 19, 2017

I am using the ALPINIST right now. The well proportionate green dial, which seemed unusual is, in reality, beautiful. All my friends like the watch. The precision is awesome (2-3 seconds p/day), the power reserve also. The compass usage a  boy scouts trick may be used with any watch; but with the ALPINIST it is more fun and makes the watch more interesting (atch Mark's video on YouTube about it). The delivery was fast and the watch came in pristine! Thanks Island Watch

Great watch March 31, 2017

Never seen the watch in the metal but heard a lot about it on Youtube.  It is beautiful.  A field watch with class.  The band sucks but I change bands on all watches I own. I wish it was a little bit bigger, if it was 40mm it would be perfect.

All-Purpose Green Beauty March 24, 2017

I'm in love with this watch, and am going to wear it everywhere. To work no matter how badly it clashes? Yup. Backpacking in the High Sierra? Yup. A's games? Obviously. I ordered a Perlon strap for when it's time to get wet and dirty, but I plan on sticking with the much-derided strap to see if it ever breaks in. She's only lost 20 seconds after a week out of the box. Bury me in it.
