Seiko Sumo Prospex Automatic Dive Watch with Black Dial and Stainless Steel Bracelet #SBDC001

Note: this is the discontinued version of the Black Sumo, SBDC001. It does not have the Prospex logo on the dial.

This is a highly coveted Seiko automatic dive watch that has been nicknamed Sumo. It features a Seiko 23 jewel automatic (6R15) movement, a date display, highly luminous hands and markers treated with Lumibrite for awesome low light visibility, a screw down offset crown, a uni-directional diving bezel with luminous PIP at 12:00, Hardlex mineral crystal and a solid etched, screw-down case back. The 6R15 Seiko movement is self-winding and it can be hand wound. The movement has a 50 hour power reserve and it is accurate to +25 to -15 seconds per day.

Comes on a stainless steel bracelet with a double locking fold-over push-button clasp with a divers extension. It includes manual and a Seiko box.

The watch is exactly as described and delivered on time. I bought this was based on a multitude of positive reviews online and that it was simply stunning. The accuracy is amazing at this point. Im hoping that after the break in period it wont slow down to much as it is slightly gaining 2-3 seconds every 24hrs. I'd rather it be a tad fast than slow. The finish of the case is excellent as stated by many. The bracelet is really nice so no real need for a replacement, however, one of the links on mine keeps getting kinked but thats the one and only flaw. I think it was worth the price and overall Im really satisfied. It came in the proper seiko box with manuals and warranty card. If the price is right and Im in the market for another watch, I would gladly buy from Island Watch again.

Great combination of quality, design and overall feel. Watch has nice weight, is very comfortable and is running about +/- 2 seconds for the first week and a half ive owned it.

Looks Better In Person

I was worried that it would look too big. I was worried that the bezel would look cartoonish. I was worried that the bracelet would be disappointing. I was worried about date and chapter ring alignment issues. I was worried that I'd regret my purchase. I should not have worried. The watch is big, but it doesn't look or wear too big - and it looks fantastic in person! There are no alignment issues that I can discern. The bracelet is fine. I have a 1st Gen Orange Monster and an Omega Seamaster Professional that I bought 18 years ago. Those bracelets are fine and so is this one. The service from Long Island Watch was excellent, and I really like this watch.
