Sturmanskie Russian Watches

Sturmanskie began making watches in 1949 during the Soviet era. At that time, Sturmanskie watches were standard issue to all air force pilots and they were not sold in shops. In 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first human to travel into space. During this historic flight, Gagarin wore a basic Sturmanskie mechanical watch. Thus, it became the first watch to ever enter into space. The watch preformed perfectly throughout the flight in conditions of zero gravity.

The Sturmanskie watches available today have been updated considerably with larger cases, refined movements, and generally have more functions. Dozens of different models are available, including Gagarin commemorative models and true 24 hour (military time) watches. The Russian movements are known for their reliability and they are very rugged and durable. These are quality watches with excellent fit and finish.
