Islander 38mm Automatic Dive Watch with Solid-Link Bracelet, AR Sapphire Crystal, and Luminous Dual-Time Ceramic Bezel Insert #ISL-20

Island Watch would like to introduce you to the new Islander dive watch. You will immediately notice that is has a very familiar 38mm case with an offset screw-down crown at 4:00. Thickness is 13mm and tip to tip it is a very wearable 44.5mm. Note that the lug ends are drilled for easier bracelet to strap changes. The case back has a rendering of Long Island on it along with the Islander name, Island Watch and 200 meter water resistance.

Inside the case is an NH36, 24-jewel automatic movement with 21,600 vibrations per hour. This self-winding movement supports hand winding and hacks (seconds hand stops when you pull out the crown). Power reserve is about 41 hours fully wound. The NH36 also has both a day and date wheel viewed at 3:00 on the dial.

The black dial has SuperLuminova on the hands and hour makers and the Island Watch logo is luminous under 12:00. The 120-click uni-directional bezel has a scratch-resistant black dual-time ceramic insert that is also treated with SuperLuminova for a maximum glow-in-the-dark experience when lights go out. The dual-time bezel lets you track a second 12 hour time zone. It is very easy to use.

The dial has enhanced visibility due to the use of an anti-reflective flat sapphire crystal that also guards against scratches. The anti-reflective coating is on the underside of the sapphire and it imparts a bluish hue at some viewing angles.

Upgraded: The bracelet has solid links, and solid end links. Screws are now used for adjustments (instead of pins) for sizing the bracelet. It now also features a robust milled scissor push-button deployant clasp with three position micro-adjustment. Also, The crown is now signed with the Island Watch logo.

NOTE: The Islander dive and dual-time watch is compatible with aftermarket parts available at Island Watch (and elsewhere) for the SKX013 models, such as crystals, bezels, inserts, chapter rings, dials, hands, bracelets, etc.

The paint on the top of the bezel was too thin so I sent it back twice. Each time there were more scratches on the back and sides.

This is a whole lot of watch for the money, very high quality for only $299 and a great choice for folks whose wrist is <7 inches. Bracelet in particular is of a high standard with the links having nice articulation to enable the watch to have a nice comfortable fit on wrist and is easy to size with the included screwdriver. The dial & world time bezel insert choices are excellently judged with the sapphire crystal giving off a very subtle blue hue in the right lighting conditions. In short, this thing feels like a more expensive watch & gives some of the swiss made crew something to think about. As one famous Seiko Tuna wearing actor once said, "I'll be back..."

The ISL-20 is a fantastic piece. The build quality is nearly unparalleled for the price. Marc offers top-notch customer service and communication as well, a major plus to this brand. I cannot recommend this line and seller enough. I look forward to more Islanders in the future.

Excellent value

I purchased the 013 as I thought the 42/43mm version would be too big. However having worn the 013 which wears smaller than its 38mm diameter I think the 42/43mm version would have suited me better. That being said the watch is excellent value and quality keeping very good time to a few seconds a day. I’m not a fan of the bevelled edge of the flat sapphire crystal which exaggerates the reflection of the hour markers on the dial which I find distracting. I have replaced the original bracelet which was fitted with the islander jubilee style bracelet which I think suits the watch much better. The screw links are very handy when sizing the bracelet but perhaps the clasp could be improved. Overall given the hacking & hand winding movement, ceramic bezel insert, solid end links and sapphire crystal this watch will take some beating at the price. I’ll probably be back for a 42/43mm version with a double domed crystal.

Perfect everyday boat floater

Marc has produced a real gem. Nothing feels cheap on this watch. Bracelet fits like glove. Love the clasp assembly. Screw holes for strap changes gives it a vintage vibe. Beautiful to look at. Keeps great time. Holy cow. Why didn't I see this watch sooner before I unloaded big dollars for overpriced watches which did not float my boat.

Very satisfied, wear the watch every day. Easy to remove links for sizing with the included screwdriver. Beautiful design and wears perfectly for my wrist size.
