The new Islander ISL-53 brings back the style of popular watch that is no longer available. The cosmetic differences are subtle but noticeable.The case is a very wearable 40mm in diameter and it is 13mm thick. Lug to lug (or tip to tip) measurement is 47.5mm. The crown is a signed screw-down type that enables a better water resistance rating of 100-meters.

Inside the case is an NH35, 24-jewel automatic movement with 21,600 vibrations per hour. This self-winding movement supports hand winding and hacks (seconds hand stops when you pull out the crown). Power reserve is about 41 hours fully wound. The ISL-53 has date displayed viewed at 3:00 on the dial.

The black dial has distinctive oversize hour makers like many WWII pilot watches. It is very easy to view the time at a glance. The hour hand, minute hand, and dial markings are all treated with C3 SuperLuminova. The seconds hand is painted orange for higher visibility and the lume dot has been made part of the pointer. You will note that the dial has excellent visibility due to the use of an anti-reflective dome sapphire crystal that also guards against scratches.

This model comes with a black leather strap with matching stitching and a signed stainless steel buckle. You can change up the look with a military-style nylon strap and any of our leather straps. The lug width is 20mm. 120mm x 75mm strap size.

    This is a great watch, as are all the Islander watches I have purchased. I will say that it is much better with the metal bracelet and I now wear it more than I did before I got the bracelet to replace the strap.

    I love the way the watch looks on the bracelet which I also purchased. I like the black strap which works great on another watch. The watch runs great. I had to give it a 4 rating unfortunately because the crown is extremely hard to unscrew but it does unscrew with a little more effort.

    The watch is pretty accurate on 3 weeks on my wrist , suggestion for Mark in the future make only no date version or if you need to make both then the one with the date include a smaller 3 on it will make the dial look much better also do not polish the unit brushed completely to make it look more rough or military style. The glass is crappy very dirty maybe a flat one will be better other than that it's

    Love everything about this watch! My only complaint is the Lume is not even. I’d rather have a solid case back instead of a display case back, and a few more layers of lume.

    It reminds me of the explorer I loved in 1962. Excellent lume, accuracy and 100 meter WR. It is now my everyday carry. 24-7. Best watch ever. THANKS Mark for creating it.

    This gem surpassed all my expectations! Particularly the movement, winding feels phenomenal, very ratchety and satisfying. The proportions are great, the metal strap (purchased separately) is also feels very solid and very comfortable. The sapphire crystal is great (plus its both sides!). I love watching the mechanism on the back of the case. I have many watches, from seiko to Rolex, and this feels just as solid, if not better than many of the the higher end watches in my collection. Looking forward to new releases. With this company I know I’m getting the absolute best value for my buck and superb quality.

    Great everyday watch. High visibility contrast is easy to view. Lume is excellent. Was going to order several alternate straps, and still may, but once I put it on the steel bracelet I have not wanted to take it off.
