Orient Ray II Black Dial Automatic Dive Watch with SS Bracelet #AA02004B

The new Orient Ray II is destined to become a massive best seller. The new Ray II is now powered by a 22-jewel, Caliber F69 automatic movement. This new movement is self-winding, hand winding, and it hacks (second hand halts when you pull out the crown). In addition to the new improved movement, the new Ray II watch has an improved uni-directional bezel with 120 clicks, and it has a new case design (gone is the quick day pusher at 2:00) for a trimmer, more simplified look. The day and date window is the same, but you adjust both via the screw-down crown. The case size comes in at 41.5mm in diameter and it's about 13mm thick. As always, you get an excellent stainless steel bracelet with a smooth operating, push-button deployant clasp (a hallmark of Orient watches).
Watch Features:
  • Movement: Orient 22-Jewel Cal. F69 Automatic (self-winding, hand wind, hacks)
  • Case: Brushed stainless steel, 41.5mm x 13mm thick.
  • Back: Solid screw-in back
  • Crystal: Hardened Mineral
  • Band: Stainless steel bracelet with push-button deployant closure, 22mm..
  • Water Resistant: 200 meters
  • Warranty: 1 Year

Excellent diver for under $200 March 22, 2018

The Seiko SKX007 may be the king of budget/entry mechanical divers, but the crown is not un-contested. Orient has made a solid watch with the Orient Ray II. The hacking and hand winding alone make this piece a gem. I have had mine for roughly two weeks and while it has been running 15 seconds fast per day, it has been consistent so regulation should be able to bring that down. The bezel has been a pleasure to use (I’m a aircraft mechanic and timing checks is a regular thing). The bezel is not too stiff but has no play in it either. As for the finishing, the watch is beautiful. I could easily make this my only watch. It dresses up nicely but can get down in the grease just as well. The lume is second to none in my experience (15-20 second charge with a 250 lux headlamp will last about an hour in near total darkness). My only complaints are that the crown is a little hard to grip as it’s a touch small and the lume on the second hand could be a bit more heavy.

A great looking, comfortable budget diver. March 8, 2018

I've had the watch for 4 or 5 months and it's still running as well as the first day. The stock band, as well as the clasp, are still in perfect order as well. (minus a few scratches of course)
My Ray II gains around 15 to 20 seconds a day which is to be expected for this price range. I'd recommend changing out the crystal if you intend to do any 'serious' work as it can scratch pretty easily.
All around a great watch for a great price.

Orient Ray II February 24, 2018
Reviewer: Kevin Coon from SWANTON, VT United States
I had my eye on this watch for awhile and finally purchased it. Excellent transaction and Watch arrived within two business days. Pristine. Very accurate and the luminous material on the dial and the hands are quite bright, like a Seiko SKX. Calendar lines up perfectly in the window. High attention to detail on the dial and hands. Case has a superb balance of brushed and polished surfaces.  Mineral crystal extremely clear to the point I thought it was sapphire. Bracelet easy to size.  Wasn’t a big fan of the bracelet and it does look pretty good on the wrist.

Wishes, but what more can be had for $179 ?

That the bezel would be easier to grip and turn.
The bracelet had more micro adjusts on the clasp.

Great quality watch at reasonable price February 20, 2018

watch came with the original box, tags and all the paperwork. runs great, has a very decently long power reserve. I own a few mechanical watches so the manual winding feature is crucial to me to keep all my watches going and this has it. It also automatically winds when you wear it and the movement is a hacking movement so I can set the clock down to the last second! Very accurate watch for the few weeks I have had it so far, and even has the day and the date function for less than $200! Overall, I am very impressed.
