Orient Ray II Blue Dial Automatic Dive Watch with Rubber Dive Strap #AA02008D

Orient Ray II Blue Dial Automatic Dive Watch with Rubber Dive Strap #AA02008D

The new Orient Ray II is destined to become a massive best seller. The new Ray II is now powered by a 22-jewel, Caliber F69 automatic movement. This new movement is self-winding, hand winding, and it hacks (second hand halts when you pull out the crown). In addition to the new improved movement, the new Ray II watch has an improved uni-directional bezel with 120 clicks, and it has a new case design (gone is the quick day pusher at 2:00) for a trimmer, more simplified look. The day and date window is the same, but you adjust both via the screw-down crown. The case size comes in at 41.5mm in diameter and it's about 13mm thick. The AA02008D model comes with the rugged Orient Dolphin rubber dive strap.

    Made for sunny days

The pictures I saw of this watch online pale in comparison to the beauty it truly possesses. Once I strapped on a new nato and saw the blue face shine in the sunlight, I was hooked. Such a great deal. So much for so little.

Excellent service by Long Island. Answered a few questions promptly. Will buy again. Watch is far better than expected, stately design; just change into a custom strap. Amazingly is keeping +2 seconds a day! Was thinking of an skx to add a Japanese diver to collection. Way glad to choose this new Orient.

That's the best word I can think of to describe the look of Orient's sunburst blue dialed divers. These really are impressive out in daylight. And versatile, with the right straps they can be elegant enough for a dressy night out or sporty enough for the game with your crew. This is my 3rd Orient diver, the 2nd purchase from Island Watch and I'm still impressed. Not just by the quality fit, finish, and elegant styling, but also by Orient's movements' ability to keep great time and have a seemingly long power reserve. This Ray II and my other two Orient divers have settled to just around 3-5 seconds fast and just stay there with quartz-like consistency. Way better than my comparably priced Seiko autos. As for the new pusher-less styling, I have to admit that I miss the "Opie from Family Guy" look of the previous pushered Makos and Rays, but the hacking, and especially the hand winding capability, of these improved Ray IIs makes up for the loss.

    Hiding customs charges

Posted by Aftab Khan on May 10th 2016

They were not clear that there would be a large custom bill when shipping internationally, and if I returned because of this they will hit me with a large shipping charge which will get deducted from my refund, purchase at your peril.

    Another Orient Gem

Few subtle changes from the previous Mako. No more date pusher is the best change. Adding hacking and winding are not a big deal to me. I actually prefer the non winding model, as it was easier to get started for me. Rubber strap is decent, but average quality

5 Stars for IW, 4 1/5 Stars for the watch

I just received this Blue RayII to join my Black Mako USA. The Mako has a bracelet so I bought the Ray II with the rubber strap and put the savings toward a medium brown leather band which looks and works great on the Blue RayII. IW price, service and delivery time was outstanding again. $170 for a watch with this apparent build quality and a windable hacking movement is great value. A few quibbles: the bezel is extremely stiff; hopefully it will loosen overtime. The lume is quite acceptable but not as good as on the Mako USA. The crown size is reduced and it is less functional than the older, larger crown. It lacks the sapphire crystal and the drilled lugs of the Mako USA models and if you get one with a bracelet it will not have the solid end links of the USA models. The tradeoff is the new windable, hacking movement. A diver with all these features would be near perfect even for a bit higher price. BTW, it is very accurate so far, +/- a few seconds/day.
