Orient 42mm Stingray Day and Date Automatic Watch with Black Dial #EM7K00CB

The Orient Stingray is a good looking watch with quick day change button and an offset crown at 4:00. It features a 21-jewel Orient automatic (self-winding) movement, a day and date feature, and a continuous operation time of more than 40 hours. Includes a black dial, mineral crystal, luminous filled hour markers, and luminous silver hour, minute and second hands. It is all housed in a 42mm stainless steel case with an exhibition window case back. Comes with a black urethane strap.

I'll start by saying I love the styling, the movement is great, but it is slightly undersized for my tastes. The rubber strap was immediately removed and discarded. I opted for a Maratac strap instead. My main complaint is the mineral crystal picked up a scratch almost immediately. I own about 75 watches with everything from acrylic to sapphire crystals. None have a scratch, not one. This one makes incidental/light contact and it has. Curved scratch? I was able to smooth the scratch edges out with my fingernail! There is simply no way this crystal should have scratched so easily, or that I could smooth it with a fingernail. I have an Orient Mako XL that looks brand new after considerable wear, so I'm chalking it up to isolated.

The watch is very nice looking but the black dial is not the same shade of black as shown in pictures. In person I'd say the dial has more of a grey/dark greyish tone to it.

The strap is very comfortable and I was pleasantly surprised by the see-through caseback.
