1st purchase from Long Island Watch Co.

Posted by James Murphy on Dec 9th 2017

I got a great deal on the watch I wanted! Sadly my wife found the package before I got to it. It is currently sitting wrapped under the Christmas tree! So... shipping was very fast. I am looking forward to purchasing more watches and watch bands in the near future! Also happy watching the youtube videos which aided in my current purchase.

    My Orient watch purchase.

Posted by Mr. Smeaton on Dec 9th 2016

I learned about mechanical watches by first hand expetience. I inherited an Elgin Gold watch made in 1950. It still runs perfect and keeps accurate time. All my other more recent watches have failed for one reason or other, corroding electronic quartz movements or battery replacement issues. I also have pocket watches from the 1800s that keep accurate time. Enough said I love this Orient watch. It's a good bet it will run 100 years like my other mechanical watches. Island watch co gave me fast service and the quality of this watch is outstanding. Just fine styling and an accurate graceful movement. I will purchase move of these fine watches from island watch co.

    Great value traditional dress watch

Posted by David Steele on Dec 6th 2016

Purchased on the Black Friday sale for $89... Specific Comments: 1. The site currently lists 10mm thick... mine measures out just under 12mm. 2. The 48749 movt beats at 21,600 bph. It is NOT handwinding and is NOT hackable (expected at this pricepoint). 3. The bracelet is what I expected at this pricepoint - lightweight and cheap feeling. The watch is much better on the black lizard grain strap I had laying around. 4. I assume Orient used the exhibition case back to "check the box" for marketing, but I'll be blunt... this is a very ugly movement. A solid case back would be more appropriate. 5. I really love the dial, especially with the date at 4 o'clock... I just keep looking at it. In short, this is a GREAT value dress watch. I don't know how Marc can sell it at an $89 pricepoint... spectacular. At the normal $179, it's still a very good buy if you need a traditional sized dress watch. Just plan on a good strap to really make this watch come to life.

    More beautiful in person.

Posted by Michael Beach on Nov 18th 2016

The guilloche dial is even more amazing in person, and the case has a nice mirror finish all around, not to mention the bracelet is really solid. My only complaints are that the big lugs/sides do look a bit clumsy on my leather strap, and you can feel the rotor move inside the watch sometimes. But overall, that gorgeous dial and sword hands definitely make it up for me. A beautiful watch.

    Classic elegance

Posted by Dan Carrison on Aug 7th 2016

First of all: typical great service from Island Watch. This is a very classy watch. It's getting harder and harder to find a 39 mm case. Even though I'm a big guy, I prefer the classic gentleman's size. And this watch is classic. I agree with Marc the dial patterning is exquisite. Look for his Summer Models 2016 YouTube video and you'll see a close-up. Normally, I think Roman numerals make a dial look "crowded," but there are only 4 Roman numerals on this dial, which is perfect. The second hand is a delicate needle that floats over the elegant dial without a shudder. This is why we buy automatics in the age of quartz. Overall, I'm very happy with this model, as I've been with all of my Orients---the best brand out there.

    Great Watch

Posted by Bruce R on Jul 16th 2016

You will not get an automatic with a stainless band and sapphire crystal for a better price. The watch has a decent heft and looks slightly bigger than its 39mm size would suggest (I measured it--it is sized correctly). I like the date at 4 o'clock and the date window is a nice size (not too small). The hands look great and the face has an interesting texture. Some might find the watch to be a bit plain but I think it's a great buy.
