Orient Gen. II Automatic Field Watch with Hand Winding, and Hacking #RA-AK0403N10A

This is the Generation II of the popular Orient field watch. The layout and presentation of the dark grey dial have been shuffled. Essentially, the weekly and 24-hour sub-dials have swapped positions and sizing. The date has moved to the three o’clock position. The logo is on the opposite side and all the hands have been swapped and highlighted with a hint of red in some areas.

The shape of the hour markers have relatively stayed the same and the outer ring still features a 60 second/minute marker. The black ion-plated case diameter has increased slightly by 0.4mm from 42mm and the crown is now at the three o’clock position. Design-wise, the case structure has stayed the same, and it has 100 meters of water resistance with a screwed-down crown. The 2nd generation Defender has been upgraded to the Orient caliber F6B22, which is a 22-jewel automatic, with hand-winding, and hacking.

5 of 5 Great field watch! June 4, 2020

Value for money, it's hard to beat this watch.  I was looking for a mostly black field watch, and I love Orient.  My Mako II is one of my favorites.  This watch is high quality.  The dial layout is attractive and it's kind of a strap monster.  It's very legible.  It's bigger than many other field watches, but I actually prefer that.  Only a few gripes.  I wish there was a sapphire crystal available.  It does tend to gain about 15-20 seconds a day.  Definitely worth the money and I am always pleased with Island Watch.  Marc is a gift to the industry.
