The Orient Star Retrograde watch is powered by an Orient made 40A50, 22-jewel automatic (self-winding) movement that can be hand wound and has hacking capability. It has a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating and a power reserve of 40 hours which can be monitored via a meter at 12:00 on the dial. It has a retrograde mechanism (day of the week hand). The word "retrograde" literally means a return to the starting point. The unique mechanism makes the hand return to the starting point in an instant, from the Sunday to Monday position, when a week has elapsed. The date is shown in a sub-dial at 9:00.

The beautifully decorated Orient Star movement and rotor can be seen in action via an exhibition window case back. The hour and minute hands have been cut in peak shape and feature different finishes on the two sides : matte and mirror finish. The hands and hour dots are treated with a luminous material for telling time in the dark. The watch comes with a high grade Orient Star stainless steel bracelet with a dual push-button deployant clasp. It is a beautiful timepiece with a gorgeous textured white dial.
