The Orient Star Standard-Date is powered by a new Orient made 40751, 22-jewel automatic (self-winding) movement that can be hand wound and has hacking capability. The movement has a power reserve of 40 hours. A quick-set date window is at 3:00 and the hands and dots at the hour markers are treated with luminous material for viewing in the dark. The detailed striping on the white dial is classic and dressy. Each indentation in the pinstriping is very precise which is highlighted when light moves across the dial. It is an extremely elegant dial.

The case is polished at the top and bottom and brushed at the sides to break up the sheen. The crown is signed with the Orient Star logo. The bracelet is a fine combination of polished and gently brushed stainless steel. The polished parts are very smooth in order to reinforce the classic motif of the watch. The clasp is double button fold-over and proudly features the Orient Star logo engraving. The case measures at 40mm in diameter and 11.6mm thick. The lug width is 22mm and the lug-to-lug width is 47mm. All Orient Star Standard-Dates feature an exhibition case back,and the movement is fully decorated with an Orient Star logo on the oscillating weight.

The Standard-Date is the first Orient model to employ Orient’s new SAR (Super Anti-Reflective) Coating. So what’s the big deal? Anti-reflective (AR) coating is applied to both surfaces in order to suppress reflection by 99%,which gives you superb visibility. The multi-layer coating on the crystal improves the scratch resistance, more so than conventional coating. Also, the SAR Coating includes stain-proof coating, which increases the water repellant level as well as providing stain resistance.
