Seiko Green Dial Automatic Alpinist Field Watch with 38mm Case, and Sapphire Crystal #SARB017

The Seiko SARB017 field watch is powered by the premium Seiko 6R15 caliber self-winding movement that can also be hand wound and hacked. It is the same caliber that powers many of the Seiko Prospex line of watches. The movement has a generous 50 hour power reserve. The case has a fine brushed finish and the green dial sports highly luminous goldtone hands and hour markers. A date display is shown at the 3 o'clock position. A scratch resistant sapphire crystal is used to protect the dial. The watch is water resistant to 200 meters. Note: The crown at 4:00 turns the inner (compass marked) bezel. Case is a mix of brushed and polished stainless steel.

Glad I pulled the trigger November 9, 2018

I've had my eye on the Alpinest since watching TGV's review and after hearing that they we discontinued I had to have one.  I had been looking at less expensive offerings on ebay, etc. but when I saw that Long Island Watch had some back in stock I didn't mind paying a little more for piece of mind.

I love the watch and the only reason I gave it 4/5 stars is the strap.  Do yourself a favor and pick up Strapcode's jubilee bracelet to pair with the Alpinest. The combination is beautiful!

Great watch as I had no problems with the band on it just it needed to be broken in. Great time only +7 a day and the hands wonderfully reach every thing they need for timekeeping. Only a fool would miss getting one and Marc with his videos made the efforts worthwhile. Angus  bracelet was later bought to enhancing appealing watch

Nice watch and Excellent service October 16, 2018

Ordered my Alpinist from LIW on the 5/10/2018 and received on 17/10/2018 in South Australia using the standard $5 USPS option. Could not fault the watch in any shape or form! Except for the strap, which is as bad as all the reviews suggest. Thanks Marc for an excellent product and the quick delivery.

Beautiful, vintage and rare watch! September 29, 2018

The first time I ever saw the alpinist was in one of Marc’s you tube videos. At first I was not impressed and totally agreed with Marc about not understanding why people would go crazy about this watch. It seemed to me like the same as a JDM Toyota Camry. But if you pay close attention to the video, Marc replaced the original strap with the oyster bracelet and his opinion completely changed about the watch. He got so excited that... I decided to get the watch. I lucked out, logged in LIW website, the rest is history. Not only I bought the sarb017 but also the sarb065 at the same time. My wife liked the Alpinist so much she wants one too. Logged in the next day but they were sold out. Replaced the original strap with a Hadley Roma tan honey leather and picked up the gold from the face. Loved the watch and will be wearing it during L’Eroica vintage bicycle race in Tuscany  next week. Thanks Marc, great doing business with you.

Nice watch! August 15, 2018

I didn't think I would ever be able to buy a Seiko Alpinist, as they had been discontinued in February. Marc apparently received an order of old stock and notified me. I immediately pounced on it, before he sold out. The watch arrived quickly, and was nicely packaged. I have swapped out the original leather band for an Alpha Shark NATO strap. I think I will eventually get a Strapcode "super jubilee" stainless steel bracelet for it as well. It is a very pretty watch (if you like green dials, which I do).
