Seiko Prospex Automatic Dive Watch with Black Dial and Stainless Steel Bracelet #SBDC051

The new Seiko Prospex Diver SBDC051 is based on the design of the 1965 original Seiko 62Mas (ref. 6217) dive watch, but it has been up-dated in functions and performance to a thoroughly modern dive watch. The case has been updated to be larger, stronger and more modern style. Crafted in stainless steel, it now measures 42.6mm in diameter and 13.8mm in height. The dial has large embossed indices filled with strong LumiBrite luminous material. The new hands are quite striking. There is a sword hand for the minutes, a large arrow for the hours, and the Seiko lollipop seconds hand.

Scratch resistance is enhanced with Seiko’s DiaShield coating on the case and bracelet. DiaShield is about 2-3 times harder than Stainless Steel. And, the slightly domed (anti-reflective) sapphire resists scratching and provides a clear view of the gorgeous dial and hands. Inside the case is an automatic Calibre 6R15 movement which beats at 3Hz and has an ample 50 hours of power reserve when fully wound. Accuracy is -15 / +25 seconds/day.

Comes on a stainless steel bracelet with a double locking fold-over push-button clasp with a divers extension. It includes manual and a Seiko box.

Outstanding service from Island Watch.
I had some questions prior to ordering the SBDC051 and sent an e mail to Marc  to which he responded within an hour. My questions were answered  and I was then comfortable placing my order.
The watch met all my expectations and I have been more than satisfied.
This was my third order from Island Watch and the service, prompt shipping, and products have been consistently outstanding. I will continue to  do business with this outstanding company.

Best bet for mid-grade Seiko! April 18, 2018

Seiko really did a great job with this watch. While the SKX and other lower end Prospex (ex. turtle) are great, they are decidedly tool watches - and that is a good thing.  The SBDC straddles the line between a tool watch an a luxury sports watch quite well.

The domed crystal, the stellar dial with applied indices and, of course, the legendary Seiko lume are all here.  The lume is a step up from the Turtles and I was impressed with those!

The movement, the same as in my SARB033, is a favorite with it's lengthy power reserve and smooth winding.  It has also been highly accurate for me.

The bracelet blows away anything from the lower end Seiko's and you would likely need to step up to the Marine Master or Grand Seiko to get any better than this.

Overall, this is a great watch and I'm thrilled to wear it!

Seiko Prospex Automatic Dive Watch with Black Dial April 14, 2018

Over the years I've enjoyed reading articles by The Watch Snob, and they always write favorably about Seiko products. It was in one of his articles I learned about this Seiko diver model. I've owned several Swiss divers with ETA movements, and while they were good looking and reliable, they didn't keep very good time. I've worn my new Seiko for two weeks and it not only looks great, but keeps fantastic time - much better than my former Swiss ETA movement watches. After two weeks I haven't had to re-set the time with my atomic desk clock. The Snob is right, Seiko offers an excellent product, at an appropriate price point.

5 stars all the way January 21, 2018

this is the third watch i buy from you guys, and as usual, amazing service, perfect shipping times.  The only problem is that Fedex in Saudi Arabia has very bad service, and to this day I still haven't received my package. I wish there were more shipping options available, like Aramex or something like that. Nevertheless I would always buy my watches from you guys.  Keep up the good work.  Big fan.
