Seiko Baby Turtle Prospex Automatic Dive Watch with Black Dial and SS Bracelet #SRPC35J1

This is a new Seiko automatic dive watch that has been nicknamed Baby Turtle due to its cushion shape case that mimics the slightly larger Turtle watches . This made-in-Japan model features a Seiko 23 jewel automatic (4R35) movement, a date display (with round magnifier), highly luminous hands and markers treated with Lumibrite for awesome low light visibility, a screw down crown, a uni-directional diving bezel with luminous PIP at 12:00, Hardlex mineral crystal and a solid etched, screw-down case back.

The 4R35 Seiko movement is self-winding, but it can be hand wound and hacked. 200 meter water resistance. The watch comes on a stainless steel bracelet with a push-button deployant clasp. 42.3mm diameter x 13mm thick case. 20mm lug width. Drilled end lugs. It includes manual and a Seiko box.

Great watch wears smaller than it looks.

The case size by the numbers is about the same size as the SKX007 but due to the shorter lugs this watch wears smaller on the wrist which is great for smaller wrists. You the great Seiko lume, hacking and hand winding. The braclet is just ok, the divers extension creates more bulk especially when sized to smaller wrist. However this watch has drilled lug holes so changing out straps in very easy. Great watch!

    Great watch, bracelet so-so.

I got the watch a couple of weeks ago. Fantastic watch, great lume, solid as all Seikos. The issue I have has to do with the bracelet, which, although very well made, it does not fit me well. The main problem is the fact that the clasp is too wide for my smallish wrist so it pushes the bracelet links "out" from my wrist, making the fit an odd one. I replaced it with a generic one and solved the problem, but I wish it was a OEM Seiko.

    Seiko Mini Turtle: Pretty Good

Posted by Ted on Apr 30th 2019

Really an all but perfect Seiko diver. LOVE the size, wrist presence, fit & finish (everything lines up!!), lume, bezel action. Always heard great things about the 4R movement, but this one is close to its stated limit at about +35 seconds per day—not fantastic. I hope it settles down, hence the four rather than five stars. Service from Long Island Watch was great.
