Spinnaker Fleuss Automatic Vintage Style Sports Watch with 43mm PVD Case #SP-5056-03

The Fleuss series of vintage styled timepieces are inspired by the work of Henry Fleuss who is widely regarded as the inventor of the first self-contained underwater breathing apparatus (Scuba) in 1878. The watch has a 43mm diameter black PVD case crafted out of solid 316L stainless steel is framed by a C5 see through luminous applied vintage style curved semi bulbous Acrylic bezel. The domed crystal is made from scratch resistant sapphire.

Powering the watch is a precise Seiko TMI NH35 movement proposing the basis of dependable timing instrumentation cloaked in a timeless vintage aesthetic. An exhibition window case back gives you a view of the movement and winding rotor. The watch comes with a thick leather strap with tie-offs at the lug ends. The band width is 22mm. Water resistance is rated at 15 ATM or 150 meters.

What can I say, for south of $250 one has to manage expectations. 43 mm but with curved lugs it wears smaller and very comfortably. The bezel is very stiff but I'd rather it stiff than loose so that's a push. I wasn't a fan of the strap, your experience may dinner. I have numerous 22 mm straps and found one that matches the watch nicely. It's running about +20 seconds a day, which at this price point is acceptable. This is my first Spinnaker but it won't be my last. They have some great designs and price/value is spot on.

If you are in the market for a diver with "vintage" looks, the Spinnaker Fleuss is an excellent buy. The NH35 movement keeps excellent time, and the crystal, dial and hands are very nicely done. The only thing that bothered me a little bit is the strap because it shows wear rather fast. The strap is also not at all suitable for water, but I think this one would look good on a nato anyway. This is a great buy for the price...plain and simple.

I love just about everything about this Spinnaker. Even though it has a 43mm diameter case, it wears like a much smaller watch. The strap is a little thick, but it's well made and extremely comfortable.

Nice Every Day Watch

Always receive great service from IW and watches always arrive promptly. The watch is comfortable and looks great as the blue face and bezel compliment each other which is also enhanced by the blue leather band. Although categorised as a dive watch, I certainly wouldn't wear this in the water without at least changing the strap to either a rubber a NATO band. Although happy with my choice and having worn the watch for a little while, I would consider purchasing the same watch but in a different colour configuration. Overall, I'm happy with the watch.
